Our bank, Karuthattankudi Dravidian Cooperative Urban Bank Ltd (KDCUB Bank), was founded by V.Tamilvel T. Umamaheswaranar, Rao Bahadur V. Appasamy Vandayar, and Rao Saheb I. Kumarasamy Pillai with a noble vision to uplift the common people of Thanjavur District. Today, our institution is recognized as one of the trusted cooperative banks in Thanjavur, providing reliable banking services, deposit schemes, and loan facilities to the people of Thanjavur district. The institution was registered on 15th March 1919 and began its banking operations on 14th April 1919 as a trusted Cooperative Bank.With over 100 years of dedicated service, Karuthattankudi Dravidian Cooperative Urban Bank Ltd has grown into a strong Cooperative Banking institution regulated by RBI and RCS, supporting individuals, traders, women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and small businesses. We provide various Bank Loans such as Property Loan, Mortgage Loan, Gold Loan, and Jewel Loan, while also supporting development initiatives related to NABARD, TAMCO, TABCEDCO, and ICM.

Cooperative Principles and their relevance to our Bank
The Co-operative Principles, adopted by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), provide a framework for how Co-operative Banks apply their values in day-to-day functioning and decision-making within the Co-operative Banking system under the regulatory guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS). Karuthattankudi Dravidian Cooperative Urban Bank Ltd (KDCUB Bank) follows these principles while promoting ethical banking practices within the cooperative sector and serving communities around Brihadeeswarar Temple (Big Temple), strengthening the values of the DRB cooperative banking network in Thanjavur.
Voluntary and Open Membership
Membership is open to all eligible persons without discrimination, subject to the provisions of the Co-operative Societies Act and the Bank’s by-laws, ensuring transparent and inclusive Cooperative governance within the institution while encouraging inclusive financial access.
Democratic Member Control
The cooperative institution is democratically managed by the Board of Directors elected by its members, who actively participate in policy-making and financial decision-making processes within the Cooperative Banking system through member governance structure.
Member Economic Participation
Members contribute to the share capital of the bank and benefit from its financial services, including Deposit Schemes, Bank Loans, and other cooperative services. Dividends are distributed from the annual net profit in accordance with applicable Acts and the Bank’s by-laws, supporting member capital participation.
Autonomy and Independence
The bank operates as an autonomous, self-help institution controlled by its members while complying with regulatory requirements of RBI and RCS, ensuring secure and responsible Co-operative Banking operations through independent financial governance.
Education, Training, and Information
The bank contributes 2% of its annual net profit to the Tamil Nadu Co-operative Union, Chennai, to promote Co-operative Education, financial awareness, and professional training within the cooperative sector while supporting cooperative education programs.

The institution works in co-operation with other Co-operative Institutions at district, state, and national levels to strengthen the cooperative banking network through inter-cooperative collaboration.
